He’ll be joining teammates Aaron Mooy, Daizen Maeda and Josip Juranovic on the flight to Qatar for the competition.

He is the latest player to wear the captain’s armband for Celtic, taking on the role domestically and in Europe after Callum McGregor’s injury.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Ange was full of praise for the American international, saying; [Celtic TV]

“Credit to him. I’m proud; the whole club is proud. We brought him in last year, he had a couple of appearances with the national team, but up until that point, he’d mainly played championship football.

“He saw this as an opportunity to take his football to another level. He’s been brilliant for us since the day he arrived. The performances speak for themself, he’s now taking on leadership as well, it’s a credit to him. He’s one that’s put in the hard work and we couldn’t be happier for him.

“He’s found his place at this football club.”

Carter-Vickers is now an essential player for Ange Postecoglou, making himself a reliable player at the back for Ange Postecoglou. He’s had his struggles with injuries this season but is looking to put them behind him and impress on the World’s stage.
