ANTHONY RALSTON was snubbed yet again by Scotland as Clarke picked his men to represent their country for its two international friendlies.

It would’ve been an excellent chance for the Celtic right-back to prove his worth, a couple of friendly games allows the manager to see his options before preparing for World Cup qualifiers. Instead, the Scotland boss opted to call up Nathan Patterson despite his lack of minutes since his move to Merseyside and Stephen O’Donnell; we all know Tony is the better player.

Ralston has been superb this season; he can’t nail down his place in the team because there’s another top-class player in his position. However, the Celtic academy graduate performances’ has forced the manager to move Juranovic to the opposite side so that he can fit in.

Postecoglou has revealed that Anthony should be pleased; the fact that he hasn’t been called up and seen as a snub shows how far he has progressed this season. As per the Daily Record, the Celtic manager said;

“I think the fact some people are surprised he’s not been called up is a reflection on the way he’s been playing.

“If he keeps playing like he does, I’m sure he’ll get looked at and he’ll get the opportunity again. He’s come a long way this season.

“If you think about where he was at the start of the season, if you said in six months people will be disappointed he’s not been picked for the national team, you’d need to check yourself.

“It’s a credit to Tony. He’s worked awfully hard and taken every opportunity he’s had. He’s helped us as a team this season in getting us where we are. He just needs to keep doing that. This is his first full year at this club where he’s playing meaningful minutes.”

After signing a one-year extension in the summer, Ralston committed himself to a long-term contract at Celtic.
