Celtic probably gave their worse performance of this new season so far today at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

Any bad results so far this season have been met with decent performances and some positives to take from games. Let’s be clear, today’s game has absolutely no positives to take from it.

To make things worse, the other team in Glasgow dropped points at home today with a 1-1 draw against Motherwell.

Ange has to take full responsibility for today’s result, the performance and lack of urgency in attack looked more like Celtic of last season. Celtic have lost all three domestic away games so far this season so already the heat is getting cranked up.

This is what the manager had to say in his post-match interview.

The manager pinpointed our mentality today and that’s slightly worrying giving the number of games Celtic have to play every three days from now through to more or less December.

You can make excuses for players who have not played much football in the last few months getting a game today but fans still expect to see a certain level of effort and urgency. Joe Hart and Carter-Vickers looked like the only players who realised we were down a goal today.

Ange is playing with a skeleton squad and needs to be giving some allowances but watching Bitton and Soro come on today after seventy minutes when a goal down will tell you the state of the Celtic squad at the moment in time.

Roll on Raith Rovers.

  1. Most of the stadia had Hoops support. So why not at least play for the badge? No, it was football masterbation. Not surprisingly the meager away (no the home fans) were the only ones who left the park, both smiling and satisfied. If the Celtic team could not be lifted by a vocal away support, then someone needs a kick up their arse. Or arses. These dire roller-coaster performances, have to stop.
