Yesterday’s 1-0 victory over St Johnstone in the Premier Sports cup semi-final was another huge step forward for Ange Postecoglou and his squad.

The Hoops secured another trip to Hampden next month, with the new boss presenting an early opportunity to lift his first piece of silverware in Scotland.

Reacting to the victory in the aftermath of the game, the 56-year old insisted that his squad are building ‘real belief’ as they continue to develop as a team week upon week.

“Credit to everyone. It was a difficult, challenging game – which we expected – but I thought we deserved it,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“St Johnstone make it really hard for any opposition – they’re so disciplined, they work hard.

“If you steer away from your own gameplan, you fall into that trap of making it a contest which favours them.

“We had to be disciplined; we didn’t get frustrated; for the most part, we were patient. The players are starting to get some real belief in the football we want to play.

“With every victory we have, that accelerates a little bit.”

It has been impressive to see Postecoglou get his philosophies across so early on within this group of players.

Across the board, we have come on leaps and bounces on the pitch and continue to see the performances, pulse the results to back that up.

As we head into the busy winter period, hopefully, we can see that form and momentum continue to build, especially with a cup final to look forward to next month.
