Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has called for his squad to take the anger and disappointment of Thursday nights game and turn it into a positive in order to get a result out of a tough test away to Aberdeen on Sunday.
Speaking to the official club website ahead of the Bhoys trip to Pittodrie, Postecoglou insisted that his side know what they need to do and are looking to bounce back from the disappointing results in the last couple of weeks.
“Aberdeen didn’t have a game midweek, so they may see some advantage in that,” he said, “but again, all these things become irrelevant. We’ve just to be a stronger team than what we are at the moment in terms of turning our performances into results.
“It’s a tough game, but it’s not about lifting the players – you’ve got to take this disappointment and let it fuel you, because it’s not just about being a good football team. There’s got to be something more there.
“We disappointed our fans on Thursday night, so we’ve got to take that anger and disappointment and use it in a positive way, and that is, in a tough game away from home, we have to show that we’ve learned the repercussions and the consequences of a night like that and we don’t want to repeat it.
“You don’t want to ignore your opponent because you’ve got to respect what they bring, and they’ve probably had a disappointing start to the season for them, so I guess they’ll be just as motivated.”
Despite Aberdeen not being on the best of form under Stephen Glass at this moment in time, a trip up North to face the Dons is always challenging.
This is a must-win game for both sides, who will be motivated to end a recent poor run of form and put that behind them with a massive three points.
Postecoglou will be looking for his side to put their away day hoodoo behind them, and a strong performance is needed in order for the Hoops to take a good result back to Glasgow.
