Postecoglou Opens Up On International Break Training Ground Plans

After Sunday’s 4-2 victory against Dundee, several of the first-team squad will now be headed their separate ways on international duty.

From Callum McGregor and David Turnbull on their way to Moldova with Scotland to Kyogo Furuhashi, who will join up with the Japanese national side – the club has a host of players travelling across the globe.

However, the break also provides some others who are part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad with a break from action or a chance to get to work on the training ground.

Speaking in the aftermath of the win at Dens Park, the 56-year old opened up about the plans for those who will remain at Lennoxtown over the next few weeks, during the break.

“It will be a mixture. Some need a little bit of a break and recovery, guys like Anthony Ralston and Jota. So it gives us a bit of a chance to freshen them up,” Ange said to BBC Scotland.

“Others need some work. There are others such as James Forrest, Giakoumakis, Mikey Johnston, James McCarthy. There’s quite a few. It’s a chance to put some work into them, so we have them ready for when we come back.

“We’ve got a massive game, first game back. So that’ll be our next focus now.”

After building some momentum with our results since the last international break, it probably comes at a good time for Postecoglou and his squad.

It allows the likes of Tom Rogic and Carl Starfelt to recover from recent injury knocks as well as providing players with a break, as Ange states.

When the squad return, we face our usual hectic winter schedule, which could prove a crucial part of the season in several competitions. So, it is essential we come back firing after this break.
