ALEXANDRO BERNABEI was charged with a drink driving offence in the early hours of Monday morning. He was taken to the police station before being released later that day.

The player has continued training with the club and will be available for Sunday’s match against Hearts, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed on Friday.

The manager did announce that the club would take the ‘appropriate’ action when the police conclude their investigation.

Fan media outlet Home Bhoys released audio of Ange Postecoglou addressing the matter.

“Yeah, there was an incident earlier in the week. Now there are processes taking place both externally and internally, and when they come to a conclusion, we’ll take the appropriate measures. He’s training and available for Sunday.”

Postecoglou didn’t provide much more detail, but it’s likely that Bernabei faced a telling-off from his new boss.

It’s not the best start in Scotland for the player, who’ll need to keep his head down and work extra hard if he has any chance of succeeding. The full details of the incident are yet to be disclosed, but once the matter ends up in court, fans will know much more about what occurred.

It was a serious offence to commit; he can count himself lucky that the manager is willing to include him in a matchday squad just a week after the incident.
