Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has provided fans with an update of summer deadline day signing Giorgos Giakoumakis.

After signing on the last day of the window, Celtic fans await to see the Greek striker in action.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s fixture against Real Betis, although this game might have come too early for the 26-year old, Ange revealed he is edging closer to action.

When asked about Giakoumakis’ availability, Postecoglou said, “No, not for tomorrow.

“Like I said the other day, he’s just not quite there (fitness). He’s probably in the same boat with three or four others, who we kind of expect to return around the same time. Probably the weekend or next mid-week.

“But for this game, it’s come too early.”

With Kyogo Furuhashi currently out injured, this leaves Postecoglou with just one senior striker in Albian Ajeti to choose from going into tomorrow night’s game.

So, the former Socceroos boss will likely be looking forward to welcoming his new striker addition into the side over the next week or so.

In a busy run of fixtures, the addition of Giakoumakis to the side could be game-changing for the 56-year olds squad, which is currently threadbare in certain areas due to injury issues.

Hopefully, the next few games on the horizon prove to be the best opportunity to introduce him into the fold.
