CELTIC were reported to make progress toward signing Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota. Both players have had publications from their native countries stating that they would be happy to extend their stay at Celtic, with the club triggering the clause in the pair’s contracts.

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that there are discussions ongoing but stresses that nothing has been agreed ‘yet’. He also admits that he wants to keep both players at the club for at least the following season.

Speaking via Celtic TV, the Celtic manager explained the current situation in regards to making both loans permanent, saying;

“We’re in discussions. It’s never a simple process but both have had unbelievable years, been outstanding contributors & are really happy here. Our intent is to try to keep them. You need a point where all parties agree. We’re not quite there yet.”
It’s great to hear the club intends to sign both players. Both have been immense this season, contributing hugely to the position Celtic now finds themselves in.

It’s now down to the players whether they extend their stay in Glasgow. With the club activating the clause, they only have to negotiate personal terms with the players, giving them the final decision.

Daizen Maeda is also on loan at Celtic; his deal will become permanent in the summer, with the Parkhead club obligated to buy him.
