PATRICK ROBERTS was the subject of talks between Celtic and Manchester City, but Postecoglou pulled the plug, with the Athletic reporting he wasn’t pleased with the winger’s attitude.

Negotiations had progressed, and Postecoglou had talked with the player. It was here Postecoglou decided against the signing of Paddy Roberts because he “was not convinced the player had the single-mindedness he looks for”

Celtic signed Liel Abada to cover James Forrest on the wing in the summer. However, a mix of stand-out performances and the Scottish winger’s injuries saw the 20-year-old become a starter.

The Israeli has had a great start to his Parkhead career as he looks to continue his form into the split. It’s fair to say that postecoglou made the right choice in bringing the then 19-year-old to Celtic rather than Patrick Roberts.

After Celtic, the winger has been unable to kick on in his career. Now playing with Sunderland, the former fan favourite, he has played for several clubs in England and abroad.

In League One, the winger has one goal in nine appearances.

It’s been well documented Ange doesn’t want just talented players but he also wants the right type of player with the correct attitude.
