Celtic Boss Ange Postecoglou has sent a warning that his team are only just getting started which should worry a lot of teams in the league.

The league leaders currently have a nine point cushion going into the second derby game of the season and many believe that if challengers Rangers fail to win the game, the title race will be all but over but there will be no let up following the match by the reigning Scottish champions who will continually strive to improve.

Since returning after the World Cup break, Celtic’s form has been excellent as they have gained a maximum 12 points on offer and scored 11 goals.

They absolutely blew Hibs away at Easter Road at a venue which has been typically difficult for Celtic teams in years gone by as they hit four goals there for the first time since 2014.

The 4-0 victory also made it 12 wins in a row in the league for the Hoops who look as though they really responded to the comments after the 2-1 win over Livingston prior to Christmas but the boss insists there will be no complacency.

“There is no reason why we can’t improve. We obviously started the season awfully well but I don’t think at any stage any of our performances suggested that we are happy with where we are at,” said Ange Postecoglou as quoted by the Daily Record.

“When we’ve been winning, if the performances haven’t been there we work really hard in the areas where we know we can.

“I still think there is improvement in this team. A lot of these guys are at an age where their best football is ahead of them. My role and the coaches and everyone around them is to give them that platform to continually improve.

“We worked hard during the break. I think we’ve come back stronger than we finished. We’ve had four games and I think in all four we’ve got stronger in each game.

“From our perspective it’s all about the main target and the main aim which is to keep pushing how good we can be on a daily basis, pushing the guys and making sure they are well prepared for what’s ahead. And they are buying into that.

“There is no sense of them getting comfortable at any stage. They are consistently pushing themselves and each other to be the best they can be.

Celtic
28th December 2022; Easter Road, Edinburgh, Scotland: Scottish Premiership Football, Hibernian versus Celtic; Aaron Mooy of Celtic and Moritz Jens of Celtic are all smiles after the match

“My role – irrespective of the results – is to keep pushing these boys, because I don’t know how good they can be. They don’t know how good they can be. Once you remove those limits, there’s always the possibility you can improve, you can get better, our movement, the speed of our ball movement and all those things.

“We can always get better, and we’ll always strive to.”

With a number of players returning from injury and new additions about to be added into the team, it is certainly exciting times ahead under Postecoglou at Celtic.
