The left-back position has arguably been the most unsettled place in Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side so far this season.

Already, we have seen several different options play in that area of the pitch, with Greg Taylor, Adam Montgomery, Josip Juranovic and Liam Scales all sharing minutes there.

On Saturday, it was the turn of Boli Bolingoli to come into the side again for the first time since his surprise return to the team against Livingston.

After a slightly shaky start on the ball in the first 10 minutes, the Belgian settled down and put in a good performance, which has led to calls for Boli to be given more opportunities at left-back going forward.

However, that won’t be the case on Tuesday as Celtic take on Ferencvaros in the Europa League. Of course, Bolingoli was left out of the European squad, so he will not be able to feature.

That leaves Ange Postecoglou with another decision to make at left-back.

Will it be Liam Scales who is chucked in for his first start at the club? Or Adam Montgomery, who has featured more regularly and will return from a knock which meant he missed the weekend’s win?

It will be interesting to see who Ange decides to stick with at left-back, not only on Tuesday but going forward into some crucial games.

Bolingoli seems to have staked a claim to be that man, so Tuesday will be a big opportunity for either Montgomery or Scales to show their worth and why they should be the player Ange goes with.
