When it comes to international football, it is fair to say that it isn’t for everyone, with it being weeks since we last saw Celtic in action.

Many Celtic fans like to keep an eye on how our own players do whilst out playing for their nations all over the world and also watching out for any potential injury issues they might pick up.

When questioned about his experiences of the international break and how it feels to see his players out doing well for the likes of Scotland and Japan – Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou produced a brilliant response, which some fans might relate to.

Speaking to the media, ahead of Saturday’s cup semi-final, Ange said: “It’s bloody stressful, mate.

“Cause I’m wishing that they do well, but sort of fingers crossed that nothing happens to them from a physical perspective.

“Look, I’ve always said that it’s a positive thing; we’ve got Josip Juranovic qualified for the World Cup, so we’ve got one Celtic player who’ll be there next year.

“Hopefully, he’s joined by his Scotland counterparts if they get through the next phase, which would be great.”

“And also Tommy and Kyogo with their respective nations, I’ve always seen the national team stuff. Obviously, I’ve seen the national team stuff; I think that it does add to a players belief and confidence when they are playing at the biggest possible stage.”

A few months back, we faced this exact problem when Kyogo Furuhashi sustained a knee injury whilst with Japan, keeping him out for around a month.

Now though, the international window of fixtures has passed, and we don’t have another international break until March.

Thinking ahead of the busy schedule we have in the coming festive period, you can only imagine how delighted Ange will be to have all his players return from their nations injury-free.
