CLUJ took their chances against Celtic and made the bhoys pay for their slackness at the back at Celtic Park.

The Romanian side knocked Neil Lennon’s men out of the Champions League and off their game as a result.

With the Bhoys gearing up for battle against AIK for a place in the Europa League it was Cluj tonight who took on Slavia Prague and they learned some harsh lessons.

Dan Petrescu and his team were beaten 1-0 on the night at home and even missed a penalty to bring the game all square late on.

As we all saw last week there’s no room for error at this level and Cluj look vulnerable heading into the second leg in Prague.

While Celtic fans have their own game to focus on, I wonder how many would like to see Cluj come crashing out of the competition and perhaps having the chance at another double header with them should the bhoys qualify.

If Celtic win their tie against AIK and Cluj get knocked out of the CL qualifiers by Prague, there could be scope for what happened last season with Celtic and Rosenberg. The Scottish Champions played the Norwegian side in the Champions League qualifiers and then the group stage of the Europa. Wouldn’t that be an interesting scenario.
