There could be a delay with getting supporters back into stadiums in Glasgow after the city along with two other districts were put under new quarantine rules.

If you’re living in Glasgow City, East Renfrewshire, or West Dumbartonshire you’re no longer allowed to visit people’s houses for the next two weeks.

This has led the government to postpone any test events happening in these areas for fans to return to spectator sports. While the ban will hopefully be lifted by the time Celtic have a home game, it throws up the possibility of no supporters heading into October IF the restrictions are kept in place.

A government spokesperson told MailSport: ‘We are engaged with representatives from a range of sporting bodies for a small number of pilot events to examine the feasibility of having spectators in stadia and planning has been underway for a number of months to allow this to happen.

‘Discussions are still underway and further updates will be provided to stakeholders in due course but we are clear no proposed test events will take place within the three council areas for the duration of the restrictions.’

Celtic are set to play Ross County a week on Saturday and right now, that is earmarked for a test event. This should go ahead still but Glasgow will have to wait.

Living with the virus means even when some fans are allowed back in, things can quickly change.

Celtic were hoping to pilot a test event last Sunday but the government weren’t for the idea. The Glasgow Derby is over a month away but right now we can’t say with any certainty if there will be a small crowd allowed through the doors.

  1. Pity because I don’t like being treated like a moron, and I never voted for them (The Scottish, nose, pickers) Great news is, they have shot theirselves in the foot regarding re-election anywhere within the Scottish parliment. So goodbye to their overtaxing policies. First booze, then second homes. Now this pish. Fuel and income tax raises will be next. Only thing I wish to hear from the fools in Auld reekie is. War is over, party time has begun. Let’s all do the Huddle, whilst the start the book burning.
