Celtic are holding their breath over Callum McGregor’s fitness.

The Celtic captain went off injured with a slight concussion and a lot of bruising on his face during the Scottish Cup win against Alloa.

There’s been a massive fear the midfielder has a cheekbone fracture but RecordSport is reporting ‘they understand’ Celtic are hopeful Callum can make a quick recovery.

Given he did have a concussion, there’s little to no chance the captain would make the game against Hearts. However, if after that, he’s good to go, we could see him back at the weekend or back for the derby game the following Wednesday. It would be a massive boost if Callum made it.

Ange is keeping his cards close to his chest and doesn’t like to alert the opposition to who he has and doesn’t have available.

We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out. Hopefully, for Callum’s sake, he doesn’t need surgery.

The Celtic captain’s mentality will mean he’ll be desperate to get back to playing.
