It is being reported that English Premier League side Southampton will renew their interest in Celtic star Liel Abada during the summer transfer window [@Ekremkonur].

There had been some rumours that the Saints were interested in Abada during the January window but there was no concrete offer put forward.

Nathan Jones’ side currently sit bottom of the Premier League and there is no guarantee that they will remain in the division which would obviously make them a less likely attraction.

As one of the younger talents within the Celtic squad, there should be no rush to leave the club as he continues to develop under the leadership and guidance of Ange Postecoglou.

His current deal at Parkhead runs out in 2026 but there have been previous reports which have stated that Celtic are willing to renegotiate Abada’s contract.

The 21-year-old has once again been hugely effective for the Hoops so far this season having made 33 appearances for Postecoglou’s side. In that time, he had contributed 10 goals as well as 5 assists [Transfermarkt].

Abada got to experience Champions League football for the first time this season and will be looking to get back there again.

Many Celtic stars will likely be linked with moves away in the coming months, but in the case of Abada who is still very young it’s better for him to be playing at a big club like Celtic under a top coach.

  1. Southampton, you’re having a laff!!! Abada wants to move to a club going places, not Soton! Soton will be in the championship next season. Why have hamburger at Soton when you can have Fillet steak at Celtic. It’s a clickbait headline.
