PREMIER LEAGUE pundit Danny Mills has told Football Insider he expects Victor Wanyama to leave Spurs in January but there’s likely to be a lot of clubs interested in the midfielder.

Wanyama has been on the fringes of the Spurs side for nearly a year and with Jose Mourinho coming in his luck didn’t change with the player not in the matchday squad for their win over West Ham at the weekend.

You’d have to imagine Victor wants to get back to playing football over the next few months which has given Celtic fans some hope the bhoys could try and land the Kenyan on-loan. However, Mills believes there’s going to be a lot of competition for Wanyama’s signature and a permanent deal could be more than likely.

“There’s plenty of clubs that will be interested in his signature, to have that solid defensive midfield player.

“Teams anywhere from seventh down in the Premier League are thinking ‘Oh yes, he can do a job for us’.

“If not, he’ll maybe go somewhere in Europe or further afield.

“He’s still a very, very good player and that’s the other thing Mourinho’s going to have to do, get a few out.

“Daniel Levy, there might be a little bit of a war chest but he’s still going to have to balance the squad and get a bit of money back in, so getting players out is going to be part of his remit as well.”

Celtic are in the last 32 of the Europa League with that fixture scheduled for mid-February. The club will be fighting on three fronts come the turn of the year and if they could land a marquee signing like the return of Victor Wanyama it would truly give Celtic a massive edge going forward. However, as Mills said, there’s going to be more than a few clubs who will look to bring in the powerhouse.
