Premier League winger and well known Celtic fan Robert Snodgrass has tipped Enzo Maresca for the Hoops manager job.

As quoted by Birmingham Mail speaking on Go Radio, Snodgrass who has worked under the Italian coach at West Ham where he was assistant manager, couldn’t speak more highly of Maresca and the amount of work/detail he puts in on the training field. But the former Scotland International warned that the Hoops will need to move quickly he will be a man in demand when it comes to managerial jobs.

“They’d be getting a hell of a coach, in terms of bringing his experience first and foremost from being a top player, but then he is able to deliver it as a coach.

“He took most of the sessions at West Ham. His attention to detail, what he focused on at West Ham in how the lads could exploit space.

“I thought he was top class, an elite-level coach. You could see he had all the credentials to be a top gaffer.

“I learned a lot from Enzo and kept in touch with him. He knows what it takes to be a top-level manager and if it does happen then I know he’s more than capable because I know how he deals with people.

“His work-rate is incredible. He’s got a blueprint and will create an identity that the fans will enjoy. I’d give him the job tomorrow, but I think he’ll have other clubs interested. I think he’s that good.

“Someone has to come in and give [Ryan] Christie’s, [Odsonne] Edouard’s, [Leigh] Griffiths their confidence back. He is a great candidate for the job and he’ll have learned a lot working under Pep for a year and getting little ideas from him.”

Currently, Maresca is at Manchester City as a u23s coach and is thought to be highly rated by Pep Guardiola. He has also spent time at clubs such as Ascoli, Sevilla and of course West Ham with Snodgrass as the assistant to Manuel Pellegrini.

The rumours have started to hot up when it comes to the 41-year old with reports suggesting he could be the club’s number one target going forward.

Ideally, the club will have a new manager in sooner rather than later with a lot of work ahead in the summer. However, due to it being such a big job at hand we need to make sure we have the right man in place.
