PATRICK ROBERTS is over the moon to be back in contention for Celtic as they look to finish the season well.

The loan star has been out of action since November and got his first taste of football in four months when he came on in the latter stages of the Motherwell draw before the International break.

Roberts had such a great loan spell the first time around, when he came back he was positive he could replicate or go even further but injury curtailed his plans.

With Celtic now being at the sharp end of the season, Paddy wants to give the fans a ‘good farewell’ and hopes to help the club to success.

“I’ve loved being here so I’ll be looking to do the best for the team and myself, and enjoy every minute of playing for Celtic.

“If it is my last season here it would be good for me to finish as strongly as I can and give a good farewell to the fans”

Celtic were willing to break their own transfer record to procure Paddy’s services last year but were told in no uncertain terms by Manchester City he wasn’t for sale.

It’s up to Celtic to ask the question again and see if the Manchester club can be swayed.

Roberts will be in the squad for Ross County’s visit to Celtic Park on Saturday and is in contention to start.

  1. Were Celtic really willing to break the transfer record for Roberts? An alternative version of events is that the player was available for 7.5 million but Celtic simply wouldn’t pay, preferring to go for another loan. Surely he should be cheaper this year. We will see if Big Pete is willing to part with about 13-15 million for Eduoard and Roberts or whether the thought of doing this gives him a heart attack. With both players at Celtic the idea of shelling out such a sum will not be appealing to the frugal board.

  2. Edouard is not worth close to 8m. Paddy is worth every penny. We have missed him so much this season, especially with Sinclair and the form he’s been in.
