DEDRYK BOYATA was back training with the first team yesterday as the manager puts the defender back in contention for a place in the starting XI.

The defender hasn’t played a game for Celtic this season with his late arrival after the World Cup followed by getting fit, and then when he was fit, declaring himself unfit to ensure he didn’t play in Celtic’s pivotal Champions League qualifier.

Celtic went out of the competition after a poor defensive display but that’s not all down to Boyata.

What is down to the Belgian is his and his agent’s antics in and around the important games and his reckless attempt at forcing a move away from the club.

With Rodgers telling the player, he’s unlikely to let him go in this window he and Boyata have spoken about his role at the club – even if that comes to an end in 11 months times.

Boyata has apparently apologised for his behaviour to his team-mates and is now looking to be professional before he inevitably leaves when his contract is up.

There is a strong possibility the Belgian could start against Suduva alongside Ajer; Brendan Rodgers preferred pairing.

Celtic are reportedly chasing Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna in a sign there could be some sort of movement for Boyata if they get a replacement before the window closes.

  1. Here here, get him take feck but for God’s sake get our defence sorted out or we’ll be out of Europe before Christmas.
