KYOGO FURUHASHI hasn’t been seen in a Celtic jersey since the final game of 2021. The striker hobbled off that day against St Johnstone with his head down knowing the gamble to play him had spectacularly backfired.

In Kyogo’s absence, quite remarkably, Celtic have turned a six-point deficit into a three-point lead in the SPFL. Not many would have predicted that possible without Kyogo leading the line.

As we head towards March, there’s still no sign of the striker and fans are desperate for a timeline.

Ange Postecoglou has been reluctant to tell anyone when we might see Kyogo back in action and the media have stopped asking because Ange was none too impressed with the constant Kyogo question every press conference

The Japanese boss took some time to come to Europe and look at his players further afield.

Hajime Moriyasu revealed he had visited Lennoxtown and spoke to both Ange Postecoglou and Michael Nicholson.

He revealed Kyogo is doing very well on his recovery [RecordSport] : “Kyogo Furuhashi is doing well in his recovery progress, but is not ready to play yet. His rehabilitation is going well. I’ll look at his situation nearer the qualifiers and consider whether I will call him up.

“I met with 13 players in Europe and I wanted to visit the players who weren’t in the last squad. Those included Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate from Celtic.

“There is limited time before the next two matches and I wanted to speak to as many of the players who could be in the squad as possible.

“I spoke with Ange Postecoglou too and the Celtic CEO. I am very proud of the success of Celtic’s Japanese players because they have been delighted with them.

“Ange told me he understood the importance of the matches and he had been impressed with the way the Japanese team is improving and how we work with players.”

The Kyogo update is promising but there’s still no timeline.

If Celtic want to win the league, we’re going to need the Japanese star back before the end of the season.
