Former professional footballer and Open Goal pundit Kevin Kyle described defender Boli Bolingoli’s Celtic career as ‘done’ after the player was dropped for Greg Taylor at the start of 2020.

We’ve only seen Boli once this year against Clyde and he’s failing to make the squad never mind the starting XI.

However, is Kyle about to eat his words already after Greg Taylor was left behind in Glasgow while the rest of the team headed for Copenhagen?

Or will Neil Lennon further prove his point by continuing with his baffling Jonny Hayes selection.

It’s either been Boli and Hayes or Taylor and Hayes this season. When it comes to playing left-back, Neil Lennon has put so much faith in Jonny Hayes and while, yes, he gives you dig and puts in a shift, you can’t help but notice how ordinary he is playing out of position and with so many talented players around him.

Speaking about this on Open Goal as cited by the Evening Times, Kyle said:

“Boli is done,”

“He has come in and got a bit of stick at the beginning, turned it around with a few decent performances but has been found wanting recently whenever he’s been called upon.

“Jonny Hayes is that squad player who’s been there for, what, 35 years or something? Keeps getting an extended deal every year with an option.

“The manager knows that, to a point, what he’s going to get from Hayes. Whereas with Bolingoli, he hasn’t got a scooby doo whether he’s going to turn up.”

Celtic take on Copenhagen in the first game of their two legged Europa League tie with the winner heading through to the last 16.
