Pundit Duo Slam Willie Collum Derby Display

Paul Lambert and Gordon Strachan were both on duty for the Celtic Pass today and believe Willie Collum has likely cost Celtic all three points.

Celtic looked to have won a penalty shortly after going 1-0 up in the derby when instead of pointing to the spot, Willie ‘eyes in the back of his head’ Collum brandished a yellow card.

Footage shoes after words there’s contact and while some might call it soft, it’s a penalty and it’s 100% not a dive.

Speaking about the incident on the Celtic Pass both Lambert and Strachan were in no doubt.

“It’s a penalty, a stonewaller all day long. As soon as you go to ground, you’re in trouble. I don’t know how the ref has missed it.

“I thought Willie Collum got big decisions wrong, and that’s a big one in the magnitude of the game.

“For me, that’s a lunge. If that’s outside the box, I think that’s a free-kick.”

Gordon Strachan

“He’s definitely caught him. He’s caught his foot.

“He can’t plant his foot because if he did, he’d break his ankle. He’s got to get up and away, and when you’re off balance, the slightest of touches…

“The way he fell wasn’t one of these theatrical dives, and even if it’s not a penalty it doesn’t have to be a dive either.”

Celtic played out a 1-1 draw in the day with their old defensive frailties costing them from a set piece.

It’s frustrating because the Ibrox club were there for the taking.

Some more astute substitutions and brave decisions could have topped the balance in our favour because the referee was shocking from start to finish.

Little challenges all over the pitch not being called, Celtic advantage being played when it would have been much more beneficial to get the free kick and at one point a Gers player controlling the ball with his hand, only for the play to be waved on.
