Sky Sports pundit and former Celtic attacker Charlie Nicholas has stated that the pressure will be on Ange Postecoglou instantly as he prepares to begin his role as Celtic manager.

As quoted by Sports Mole, speaking to the PA news agency, Nicholas expressed that the 55-year old will be up against things instantly as he attempts to build his newly assembled squad as quickly as possible ahead of the Champions League qualifiers next month.

Nicholas slams Celtic’s policy of selling before they buy.

“The manager has got no time at all. I see this guy as being someone who is already in a really awkward position.

“I know they’re currently looking at different players, but it is getting them in the door – and also getting the ones who don’t want to be at Celtic Park out.

“Unfortunately, the ownership tends to wait until they sell before they buy.

“He needs to get players in, he needs to get a shape right, and also he’s got tremendously difficult away ties (at the start of the cinch Premiership season, with trips to Hearts and Rangers in August).

“So it is going to be a testing and difficult time for the new Celtic manager, but it is a challenge.

“If you have not got the players in that you want, I would still expect to see your team having shape, I would expect to see attacking football, so if he gets off to a good start, who knows where it could take us?”

The appointment of Postecoglou has left some expressing their doubts. Not just about him personally but also how late it has come with the size of rebuild we have ahead of us this summer.

The 55-year old has great pedigree if you are to go off the recent reviews he has received in the media. But he has a quick job on his hands right away.

Today, we discovered our qualifying fate, which will see the Hoops face off against FC Midtjylland later next month. With the current need for players at the club, there will have to be a quick turnaround in additions to the squad.
