Nostalgia is a powerful thing, especially when you’re currently living through a bad spell and you remember the good times.

We think that’s what’s happened with regards to peoples opinion on former Celtic hero Scott Sinclar.

We like to keep fans in touch with what some of our former players get up to and posted up Sinclair’s outstanding goal for Preston on Tuesday night. This prompted a strong reaction from a lot of our social media followers; many harkening back to Sinclair doing his stuff for Celtic.

Commenting underneath the story on our 100k+ Facebook page, some fans think we let him go too early:

There’s no doubt Scotty has his place in Celtic’s history, he was a giant during the invincible season and now he’s been away from the club for a bit, that’s the overriding memories.

However, people tend to forget the frustration he caused playing for the club in his second and third season, he was still scoring and assisting but not playing to his overall potential.

Bursts down the wing taking on multiple men were replaced by cutting inside and passing back a lot of the time. Teams doubling and tripling up on the winger to stop his momentum.

  1. Great player in his first season-rank rotten thereafter-so poor we were virtually a man down. Totally lost his confidence. We have made mistakes but not in Sinclairs case.
