Go Radio Football show host Paul Cooney has claimed that the deal to bring Eddie Howe to Celtic is in fact done, despite claims last night that the Englishman was not close to joining any club.

Speaking on the show, Cooney said that sources close to the former Bournemouth boss say that it looks as though he should be on his way to Glasgow. It is more about when.

“The word is though, sources close to him that it looks as though he’s coming. It’s about when. He knew Crystal Palace would come up, probably.

“Newcastle may come up, others may come and if it’s absolutely massive one then maybe he won’t but the word is the deal is done, and he’s going to come”

In the last week, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster with the Howe situation despite not much changing.

Even with last nights reports from Howe’s representatives, we didn’t learn all that much from his comments.

It does suggest that we could be waiting a little bit longer for an announcement if the 43-year old is to accept the job but many details still need to be sorted, whether that be his possible backroom staff or if Richard Hughes could be joining him in some capacity.

Fingers crossed we hear some news soon in regards to who the next manager will be but it will take time to make sure we have the best candidate in the role.
