Anthony Ralston was talking to the media today after he captained the team on Wednesday night.
The Hoops are preparing to face Blackburn Rovers on Saturday as the Hoops return to Glasgow to prepare for the upcoming season. Premier Sports are showing the game live, but it’s set to be a sell-out in the stadium for the 12.30 kick-off.
The right-back has opened up on Alexandro Bernabei, expressing his admiration of the Argentine, settling in well so far. [Celtic TV]
“He’s a hardworking player. Even though he’s just come in, he’s also picked up on how the gaffer wants us to play that full-back role in terms of coming inside. He’s understood that very well.
“He’s worked hard in training. And he’s fitted in with the boys well, even though there’s a bit of a language barrier there. He’s made the effort to be around the boys and join in when he can. I wish him all the best in his Celtic career.”
Ange’s unique role for full-backs will take some getting used to and will get easier with the more minutes Bernanei receives. There are some positive signs already for the defender, but there are certainly some areas he can tidy up on. Again, the more experience on the pitch he gets under Postecoglou, the better he’ll get.
Another Battle for a Starting Role
As in many areas of the pitch, it’s a battle for the starting spot.
Alexandro Bernabei will go up against Greg Taylor, who has excelled in the position and adapted to the inverted role. It’ll certainly be interesting to see who Ange goes with against Aberdeen in a couple of weeks.
He’s too small at back post especially defending corners like Izzaguire was
Taylor has “excelled in the position”? Really? He was better last season than previously but lets not go overboard.
Its been a massive problem position since KT left.
