After the withdrawal of Nathan Patterson from the Scotland squad many expected the inform Anthony Ralston to be called up to represent his country. However, this was not the case as Paul Mcginn of Hibernian was called up.

A report from Keith Jackson of the Daily Record has explained Steve Clarke’s decision as to why the 22-year-old did not replace the young Ibrox side’s full-back.

It is said that Anthony Ralston could not be included in the squad due to medical reasons, the extent of these have not been reported and will most likely remain a private matter.

If the player was called up, it would most likely be his first apperance for the senior Scotland national team.

Ralston has impressed all this season, many fans had written the academy graduate off but under new manager Ange Postecoglou he looks to be a completely different player. So far this season, Ralston has two goals to his name after four appearances in the league – impressive for a defender.

After Greg Taylor was sidelined due to injury, Anthony kept his place when Celtic visited Ibrox before the international break and new bhoy Josip Joranovic was played out of position on the opposite side.
