It is probably a natural thing to copy something that seems to work so well. The Celtic Football Club model has been working like a well-oiled machine now for the last five to six seasons.

I read an interesting article the other day in Forbes magazine that suggested the Rangers club were trying to replicate what Celtic do. Buy in young potential players and develop them into superstars that fetch twenty million-plus in the transfer market.

The report went into great detail about how successful Celtic have been at this and listed a number of what it called assets that Celtic currently have. Assets like Ajer, Christie and Edouard. The piece was about finances and how Rangers failing to mimick Celtic was costing them over ten million pounds a year which is predicted to send the club back to the wall in the not so distant future.

Now the Rangers board have decided to follow Celtic to their winter training camp in out in Dubai which has been home to the Bhoys for the last four seasons. Just before the last winter break, the Rangers team recorded a very rare win against Celtic in the Glasgow derby. They had closed the gap on Celtic in the league but the Bhoys came back from Dubai like a different animal and went on a winning run that secured a famous Treble Treble.

This season before the winter break the Glasgow derby will be held at Paradise and Celtic will be red hot favourites to head to Dubai with bragging rights. With the Rangers club reporting another year in millions of pounds of losses and a rumoured ten million pounds needed to pay the bills until the end of the season, it is surprising they didn’t announce Blackpool.
