CELTIC kick off their Europa League campaign on Thursday night in the familiar setting of Seville.

Ange Postecoglou and his side have their work cut out for them against Real Betis as they look to try and get off to a positive start in the group stages.

It’s not going to be easy – Celtic are still not a settled side, this is highlighted by the fact we were still handing players their debuts on Saturday against Ross County and there are more players still to make their debuts like Giakoumakis and Scales.

Here’s what you need to know ahead of the game.

Major talking points

Celtic away in Europe is never conducive to an easy night of football watching. We’re going to need big performances all around the park and Joe Hart to come up big.

Celtic have major injuries in Kyogo and James Forrest.

Squad prediction

The team below started against Ross County at the weekend:

There’s likely going to be a similar feel to the starting XI in Spain. The front three seem like a lock due to injuries. Greg Taylor is struggling with a shoulder injury and could be replaced by either Adam Montogomery or Jusip Juranovic. If Ange wants Anthony Ralston back in the side, he might opt to stick Juranovic at left back again.

Starfelt and Carter-Vickers pairing is just getting going so I don’t expect any changes at centre-back unless Ange is worried two games in a week could be detrimental for the new Celtic loan signing after not playing at all.
