Celtic are set to kick off their league season this Sunday at Celtic Park, eagerly anticipated by fans ready to return to Paradise for another campaign of football.
After a busy preseason that included matches both locally and in the United States against teams like DC United, Manchester City, and Chelsea, the team is gearing up for the start of domestic league play.
The officials for the opening match against Kilmarnock have been confirmed, with Don Robertson appointed as the referee. He will be assisted by linesmen David Roome and Craig Ferguson. The role of the Fourth Official will be filled by Grant Irvine, while Greg Aitken will oversee the VAR, supported by Jonathan Bell. [SFA]
Amidst the excitement of the new season, there is a sense of discontent among supporters regarding Celtic’s transfer activities. As the season begins, the club has only added two goalkeepers to its squad, with no new outfield players signed. This has been a particular point of concern given the departures of last season’s successful loanees Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo, who have yet to return to the club. Despite Celtic’s expressed interest in re-signing them, as we enter August both remain at their parent clubs.
