ST MIRREN youngster Dylan Reid will NOT be joining Celtic this summer after the club was given permission to talk to the player.

Celtic wanted to bring Dylan into the B squad and had an offer accepted for him. [SunSport] Reid has decided to stay out and bide his time in Paisley.

St Mirren confirmed the player would be staying at the club in an official tweet on Monday evening.

The Bhoys are gearing up for another campaign in the Scottish Lowland league and they’re looking to bolster their squad who can hopefully progress to the first team at some point.

Buddies boss Stephen Robinson was keen to keep the 17-year-old at the club, claiming his progress would be best served with St Mirren.

There has been a lot of interest in Dylan in recent days. He could still end up elsewhere before the summer is out.

It’s not a big loss for Celtic, they still have to show they can bring young players through using the Lowland League as a catapult. If young players can see a clear path to the first team, they’re more inclined to join.
