Released by Celtic after just one season in the reserves, former Celtic youngster Liam Burt could be heading north to Celtic’s rivals, Aberdeen.

Burt re-signed for Celtic after a stint on the other side of Glasgow during his youth career. Hoping to make the break through, Celtic fan, Liam came to the club hoping to make an impact.

Unfortunately, the player’s time at Celtic was cut short with the pandemic hitting in March.

Add into that, the ludicrous nature of Celtic’s developmental system which has very little competitive football during the year – it was always an uphill battle.

Record Sport writes the player was up at Pittodrie and was looking to seal a deal with the Dons in the coming days and weeks.

If he impresses Derek McInnes, Burt could be coming up against Celtic in the near future.

Aberdeen take on Celtic this Sunday but even if he did win a contract, there’s no real chance Liam would be part of any squad Aberdeen field.
