The 19-year-old spent last season with East Fife, playing twenty-eight games, but left the club after a successful trial in the Toon. Despite impressing with the Scottish club, his efforts weren’t enough, as the side was relegated to League 2.

He’ll likely join Newcastle’s Under 23 side, with the club bringing in a few youth players to help the PL2 side. The side sits ninth after losing their first game.

Smith is a Brilliant Role Model

To get to where he is now, he’s had to show a great amount of resilience and determination. He was willing to go down the leagues to get some valuable experience and game time which has earned him a move to the top side.

However, some questions need to be asked of the Celtic academy, a few players have now been released and have landed at some top clubs, or done similarly to Jude, starting at the bottom leagues and working their way up.
