According to reports, Celtic have now turned their sights to Olympiakos player Omar Elabdellaoui to solve their right back problem.

The 27-year-old could be available for around £4million and with Rodgers desperate to find a suitable replacement for Mikael Lustig in this window, you wouldn’t bet against Celtic spending that amount on the right man.

Celtic have been linked with a move for Timothy Castagne from Atalanta, but that deal doesn’t look like it can get off the ground with the Italian side holding out for big money even though the Belgian is not even their first choice right back.

Brendan Rodgers has shown a no-nonsense approach to signings this January with three already in the door and more likely to follow.

The reports last night Celtic were closing in on a new left back from America in Andrew Gutman is more welcome news for the Celtic fans as Rodgers looks to seriously build on his squad.

Omar Elabdellaoui started his career in the Manchester City set up and has also played for clubs such as Feyenoord and Hull during his career and has been capped for Norway 34 times.
