In a remarkable turn of events, it’s being reported Barcelona have former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers on a list of possible candidates to replace Ronald Koeman as manager.

The Irishman has spent over two years at Leicester at this point and has won a trophy with the English club. He keeps missing out on that elusive Champions League spot and the former Hoops boss has struggled at the start of this season with his side.

Barcelona are a bit of a mess and are trying to navigate their way beyond the Messi era while still being in monumental debt.

They have to keep their options open and according to 90min, Rodgers is one of those options. The same report claims Rodgers was also talked about as a replacement for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City before the Spaniard signed a new deal.

Love him or hate him, the former Celtic boss pushed us to a high level of professionalism that saw Celtic gain unprecedented success. Something that was lost greatly under Neil Lennon. We now have Ange Postecoglou attempting to pick up the pieces.

Rodgers might be on Barca’s list but a move to Spain would still feel unlikely.

The manager has been shooting for the Champions League with Leicester and he might just hold out until another EPL job comes along.

  1. They will give the Barca job to an ex player with European experience. St Brendan is neither. And he can’t handle the stress of failure. Good manager yes, has he ran away from failure. Also yes.
