FORMER Celtic defender Ramon Vega has branded Celtic fans ‘remarkable’ as the support came out in massive numbers for such an unusual kick-off time.

Celtic had to play at 3:30pm on a Tuesday due to COP26 preparation coupled with UEFA’s unwillingness to allow the game to go on at the same time as their Champions League ties.

Fans were not put first in the decision and UEFA bore the brunt of the Green brigade’s wrath before kick off.

Vega praised the Celtic support while questioning the wisdom of allowing the game to go ahead at such an inconvenient time.

Verdict

Celtic fans showed what they’re all about on Tuesday afternoon. Some making huge sacrifices to be inside the stadium to cheer on the bhoys. The fans who did make the game were rewarded with a win and a fantastic opening goal.

Social media has been abuzz with praise for the Hoops faithful and their commitment to following their team no matter what.

Not every club can get 50k supporters on a Saturday at 3pm. Our fan base got over 50k on a Tuesday afternoon, it can’t be underplayed.
