REO HATATE will earn his first cap for Japan today!

The midfielder has been in and around the squad for a while but hasn’t got onto the pitch until now.

With Japan already qualified, Reo will now get the chance to show what he can do against Vietnam on Tuesday morning before heading back to Glasgow ahead of the derby this weekend.

Reo is the only Celtic player in the Japanese squad this international break. Daizen Maeda stepped back due to fatigue and conditioning – it was thought the best thing for Daizen was to stay at Lennoxtown and rest up.

Kyogo is still injured and Ideguchi is nowhere near an international call-up at the moment.

Reo will be looking to give a good account of himself to have the best chance of a World Cup call up later this year when Japan head to Qatar.

For Celtic fans, they’ll just be hoping Reo gets through the game without any injuries.

We’re expecting most players back at Lennoxtown by Thursday and it’s been a case of so far, so good.
