Reo Hatate was once again an unused substitute for his country in their Kirin Cup match against Ecuador.

The game finished 0-0 with Hatate not being chosen to come off the bench by Hajime Moriyasu.

Many expected Hatate to get some game time during Japan’s matches against the USA and Ecuador but he is yet to add to his single international cap.

The positive news is that the midfielder will return to Glasgow injury free and will likely start at the weekend against Motherwell.

Hatate has impressed so far this season and has had two decent appearances for Celtic in the Champions League

Injuries have begun to mount up for Ange Postecoglou’s team so it’s a positive that yet another player has came through unscathed.

Hatate will likely be wondering what he has got to do to get game time for his country with the World Cup only a couple of months away.

Alongside his countrymen Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda he will be eager to be selected for the squad in November as Japan take on Germany, Spain and Costa Rica.

If he is selected, it will be financially beneficial to Celtic although it doesn’t appear that Moriyasu fancies him all too much currently.
