Celtic were given their post split fixtures today with it being confirmed Ange Postecoglou’s men could win the league at Tynecastle on Sunday the 7th of May.

This has left many a fan disappointed due to the fact it means the Bhoys cannot win the title in front of a number of their fans although it has helped the SPFL avoid one of their nightmare scenarios – Celtic winning the league at Ibrox.

For police and the footballing authorities this would be an extreme headache – and it is unlikely to happen – but don’t rule it out.

If Celtic fail to win at Tynecastle next weekend, they will have the chance to win the league at Ibrox the following Saturday.

Albeit there will be no Hoops fans in the ground, it would be a bitter sweet moment if the Bhoys were to clinch the title at the home of their fiercest rivals however as mentioned, they would have to slip up in Gorgie to get the opportunity to do so.

This would be much similar to what happened at the end of the 2017/18 season.

In the first game after the split, Celtic needed a point to win the league but lost 2-1 to Hibs at Easter Road. Due to this, they got the chance to win the title against Rangers at Celtic Park.

It to fair to say the Bhoys took the opportunity to embarrass their rivals with both hands as goals from Odsonne Edouard, James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic helped them storm to the title in a 5-0 victory.

Obviously this is a similar scenario to the current 2022/23 season apart from the fact the Bhoys play Hearts not Hibs and Rangers at Ibrox not Parkhead.

The scenario of Celtic winning the league at Ibrox is one few fans would turn down.

Some, though, will want the league done and dusted on the 7th May at Hearts and that is exactly what Postecoglou and his players will be aiming to do.

  1. Couldnt care less where it is wrapped up. Makes no difference at all. Just a hassle every year as can’t make travel plans in advance. The split is a waste of time & leads to unfairness for some clubs. Dons & Jambos fighting for 3rd place yet Dons will have visited our ground 3 times.

  2. I bet Hearts get fk all of the ref and Celtic get unexplained penalties.
The Huns could cause big behavioural problems and big trouble due to their Management shit position

  3. Tha last post related to the Ibrox fixture. The bstrds have got away with murder so what’s to stop them causing fkn riots. I’m glad no Celtic support will be there
