Report: Celtic Agree £7m Deal to Sell Adam Idah

Swansea City are closing in on a deal to sign Celtic striker Adam Idah, with talks advancing over a fee in the region of £7 million.

The Championship side have been pursuing attacking options in the final week of the transfer window, and Celtic’s Republic of Ireland international has emerged as their priority target.

Swansea boss Alan Sheehan recently admitted his admiration for Idah, describing him as “a good player,” while refusing to be drawn on the specifics of any move.

Journalist Anthony Joseph reports that negotiations are at an advanced stage, with a medical expected within the next 48 hours should the agreement be finalised.

Idah made his permanent switch to Parkhead last summer after a successful loan spell from Norwich City, with Celtic paying an initial £8.5 million in a deal that could rise to £9.5 million.

The potential transfer represents a quick turnaround in fortunes for the 24-year-old, who was one of the club’s most expensive signings in recent history.

While his goals proved valuable during his initial time in Glasgow, his long-term place in Brendan Rodgers’ plans appears less certain.

For Swansea, the deal would be a major statement of intent as they look to strengthen their push for promotion. Idah’s physical presence, pace, and eye for goal would add firepower to Sheehan’s squad.

Celtic supporters will view the development with surprise given the significant investment made just a year ago, but with Rodgers reshaping his squad and balancing resources, a swift exit for Idah now looks likely.

If terms are agreed as expected, Idah could be unveiled as a Swansea player very soon, drawing a quick close to one of the more unexpected transfer stories of the summer.

With Kyogo Furuhashi leaving in January, Celtic are still yet to replace him and were already expected to move for a forward before Monday’s deadline. Should Idah depart as well, it would be clear the squad requires not just one but two marquee forward signings to meet the demands of the season.
