Celtic B picked up their first three points at home of the season, defeating Berwick Rangers 2-0.

First-half goals from Rocco Vata and Adam Brooks were enough to secure a solid win for the young Hoops and several players impressing once again with their performances on Wednesday evening.

Right from the off, Celtic was on the front foot, looking to get in the lead instantly, testing the Berwick number one with efforts from outside the area.

Around 18 minutes into the game, Tommy McIntyre’s side took a deserved lead.

Picking up the ball on the left-hand side, winger Owen Moffat spread a lovely weighted ball over to the right side of the box, where Rocco Vata was waiting.

Without hesitation, the youngest, who is also the son of former Celtic player Rudi Vata, smashed home a thunderous right-footed shot that crashed in off the crossbar.

Just after the half-hour mark, Celtic doubled their lead through Adam Brooks.

The frontman, who was making his first start of the season, added to his goal tally in the Lowland League, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way with a tidy finish inside the area after getting on the end of a ricocheted pass.

In the second half, the game died down a little, with defender Bosun Lawal having the best chance to score the game’s third goal from a corner, but it went just wide.

That sealed the Hoops second win on the bounce and a first three points at their home for the season.

Tommy McIntyre will be delighted with another good display from his young squad, who also kept their first clean sheet of the campaign.

Next up is Bo’ness United away this Saturday.
