Tonight news has emerged from Italian journalist Nicolò Schira,  that Celtic have had a bid of €5 million rejected for 19-year-old defender Mario Vuskovic.

His tweet which broke the news reports Italian clubs Torino and Napoli are interested and have made enquiries during the January window.

Vuskovic, who is Croatian born has made 21 appearances for HNK Hajduk Split who are in the top tier of the Croatian football league.

It is refreshing to see the club push forward with transfers however, questions need to be asked who is making these decisions.

There is still no confirmation of a director of football after the news of Nick Hammonds departure and still no manager in place.

A manager should have the power to chose his own signings that fit his footballing philosophy.

CeltsAreHere understand that the next director of football is already working behind the scenes, could this be their first major move? Or has this rumour simply been put out to get their defender’s name out there?

  1. Total nonsense, what club in their right mind would pay 5m when they don’t have a manager? A new manager might not rate the player. We’ve wasted enough 5m’s on Ajeti and Barkas.
