A report from Edinburgh news claims Celtic are looking into the possibility of signing Hibs goalkeeper Ofir Marciano.
Celtic have gone through the whole season without a proper, solidified number one and it’s something which must be addressed over the summer.
However, I can’t envision a scenario where Celtic would be looking to solve that problem without a new manager being in place.
The Hoops have still to show their hand and let the Celtic fans know what direction they will be going in next season. While we might sign the odd youngster to supplement the squad, there’s little chance the club will try to pick up first team players without a new man’s consent.
Marciano spoke about his Hibs future with his latest contract nearly up.
He said: “The most important thing is to finish as high as we can for the club. After that we have time to think about these things but the most important thing for me is to play good in every game and stay focused for the rest of the season.
“I’m not trying to hide it, I’m happy here but I’m trying not to think about my contract. I’m thinking about trying to improve my game.
“For me, the most important thing is to play good for the club. Without that I won’t get any opportunity, not here or at another place. I know my value.”
Having seen Marciano at both international and club level, it’s fair to say he wouldn’t be the obvious answer to Celtic’s goalkeeping woes.
The Edinburgh outlet reporting this give no indication, quote or any substance to legitimise Celtic’s interest. It seems like a report born out of the Hibs goalkeeper looking to move and the Hoops looking for a keeper.
We already have three sh*t keepers. Why do we need another one?
If you want to mess about in the cheap Scottish market then the guy from Utd is where you go. Marciano makes more mistakes than our current theee combined.
