Reports in Italy have claimed Celtic have indeed put a £3.5m on the table for their former youth player Aaron Hickey.

Every transfer window lately has seen the club linked with a move for the defender.

Bologna managed to persuade Hearts to part with the defender last summer but Celtic haven’t given up the ghost.

SunSport report the player is still high on Celtic’s list of recruits and they cite reports in Italy claiming a bid has been made.

Hickey is a Celtic fan, but that’s not a driving force for the player who has left the club twice because of the lack of opportunity. He is career driven and should be applauded for that.

There will be vindication from the player’s side of things that Celtic are keen on paying a decent fee for him one. Had he stayed in our setup theres every chance he would have been lost to the system.

Celtic have been criticised for their lack of planning when it comes to young players. We’re a club who should be putting so much emphasis on building up our own talent but rarely do.

Hickey would be a good signing for Celtic and provide energy down the left hand side. Will Bologna part with their player though?

  1. thought with ange in sighnings would have been done and dusted no change desmond still refusing to open cheque book fans done there finnanciall bit again with season tickets desmond start opening that cheque book get players in ffs

  2. Come on Celtic, get the deal done he’s the next best thing to KT don’t let this slip away from us AH knows what playing for the hoops is about bring him back ?

  3. Nothing will change, all this talk from the new manager and ceo means nothing as they still have to deal with DD and our incompetent board, who failed us totally last season and have learnt nothing.

  4. While I rate the young boy Hickey and believe he could be the next KT, what is slightly worrying for me, is that most of the targets we are being linked with have all been identified long before Ange was in the building. So, who is having the final say on who we sign? Is Ange being consulted? Does he have any input? Or have we seen this movie before (B.R’s surprise and dismay at the signing of Shved to name but one example!) Ange MUST appoint his own back room staff (ASAP) and be given freedom and control to identify and push through the signing of players! The last time we watched this scenario unfold it ended in tears, frustration, disappointment and anger. We must now implement the harsh lessons we have learned through the loss of B.R and the disastrous appointment of N.L. Or we are resigned to fail again! This level of incompetence has shown to directly translate to underachievement on the pitch and a growing concern amongst the support. To repeat the mistakes would be unforgivable, and the collateral damage more far reaching than we dare to imagine! Come on Celtic, let’s get this right! HH
