This has to be our early favourite for transfer report of the summer – an Italian football publication reporting on a Scottish club making a bid for a Congo-born player who plays in France!

Did you catch all that?

According to CalcioMercato, Celtic have made a £4.5m bid for the services of Paris FC striker Silas Wamangituka.

Neil Lennon was in Paris last weekend with many speculating he was on a scouting mission for the club which the Irishman did confirm.

However, Neil said it was not to scout the striker in question. Speaking to RecordSport the interim boss said:

“It wasn’t him,” Lennon told the media after the Kilmarnock win “But we are looking at players.

“And centre-forward is a position I would look at.”

While Neil Lennon or anyone at the club is unlikely to blurt out who they have their eye on, it would be very peculiar for an Italian source to have the scoop in this instance.

Neil seems to be comfortable planning for the future even though we aren’t sure if he will be here come the summer.

Celtic need a few new faces in during pre-season to revitalise a jaded looking team. If you want to believe Neil Lennon then Silas Wamangituka won’t be one of them.
