Take this report with a pinch of salt. It’s being run on the notion Scott Bain is out injured for a number of months. SunSport claim Bain has suffered a big injury setback while The Herald claim he will only miss one game through injury.

However, SunSport have taken it one step further now and are claiming Neil Lennon WILL inquire about the availability of Fraser Forster in a bid to bring the Geordie goalkeeper back to Celtic.

Lennon has kept Bain in goals since returning to the role as Celtic boss but there’s an air of uncertainty over the number one jersey and if the Irishman opts to put Craig Gordon back between the sticks, it’s hardly going to be a long term solution.

Forster has been touted by ex-Celts in the media as an obvious choice to come in and grab the number one jersey. On the face of it, perhaps – however, the player is on a large contract. Even though Southampton would be willing to let Fraser go, the goalie would have to take over a 50% cut in wages to sign.

A loan deal would be a compromise but again this is a short term solution Celtic really should be trying to fix long term.
