Celtic could face fresh competition in their long-standing interest in Bojan Miovski, with reports in Spain claiming La Liga side Valencia are considering a move for the Girona striker.
Journalist Matteo Moretto has named Miovski as a potential target for the Spanish club, with financial factors making him a more accessible option than some of their other forward targets.
The North Macedonian was heavily linked with Celtic during his prolific spell at Aberdeen. His physical presence, clever movement and goal return in Scotland caught the eye, with Brendan Rodgers reportedly a fan of his attributes. Though no deal was struck during his time at Pittodrie, Celtic’s interest never fully disappeared.
After moving to Girona for a reported £6.8 million last summer, Miovski has struggled to hit the same heights in Spain. While he’s featured regularly, his goal return hasn’t matched expectations, and Girona are now believed to be open to offers. The striker is reportedly available for around £2.5 million, a figure well within Celtic’s typical transfer reach, particularly for a player with a proven record in the Premiership.
That’s where Valencia’s interest complicates matters. Miovski is on a shortlist that also includes the likes of Umar Sadiq and Cyle Larin, but he’s viewed as a more financially realistic option should those deals fall through. For Celtic, that raises the prospect of a European club swooping in before any Parkhead move can be revived.
From a Celtic angle, it puts pressure on the recruitment team. The club are actively seeking another forward and Miovski, with his knowledge of the Scottish game and consistent goal output, fits the bill. He wouldn’t require time to adapt, and at 26, still has scope to develop further.
Whether Celtic reignite their interest may depend on outgoing business and how serious Valencia’s approach becomes. But if the Hoops are to move, they may need to do so quickly. With Miovski’s stock still holding value in Europe and Girona ready to sell, the window for a cut-price move may not stay open for long.
