The Greek keeper arrived at Celtic in the summer of 2020 and has failed to make an impression on the team ever since. He was initially brought in to be Celtic’s starting goalkeeper and was even given the number 1.
Last season, under Neil Lennon, Barkas struggled to retain his starting spot, both Bain and Hazard displaced him in the team.
After the arrival of Postecoglou, many expected the goalkeeper to get another chance, however, more disastrous performances led to Joe Hart coming to Glasgow to remind fans what it was like to watch a save.
Barkas has found himself left out of recent matchday squads confirming he is not in the manager’s plans. A move away from Celtic is best for all parties with the Greek keeper keen to get his career back on track.
“…to remind fans what it was like to watch a save.”
Ouch. Brutal. But apt.
